Rep. James Oberstar on "Ready to Go" Transportation Projects
Rep. James Oberstar (D-MN) is an outspoken advocate for the advancement of transportation in America. As chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is one of the primary architects of the authorizing legislation for the nation's highway and transit programs. In this segment of View from the Hill, we string together a series of comments Oberstar made at a December 2, 2009 news conference to release a new survey of 9,500 "Ready to Go" transportation projects worth $70 billion dollars that could be funded through a jobs bill. Mr. Oberstar discusses the list of projects and the need for greater transportation investment to create jobs and bring the nation's aging infrastructure up to a good state of repair. "The time for action is now," Oberstar says.
